Just a short flight from the United States, Bermuda makes for a great weekend vacation destination. The temperature is really perfect all year round but the pink sand beaches and turquoise waters are ideal in the spring summer and fall. Welcoming and warm, the locals are nice and helpful to any tourist in need. Although the view from the seashore is amazing in itself, a truly captivating sight can be obtained for $1.50 per person from the Gibb’s Hill Lighthouse, the oldest cast iron lighthouse in the world. For visitors with a deep love for sailing, Bermuda offers some of the best sailing in the world. For those without a sailing license, kayaks, paddleboats, boards and more are available throughout all the beaches. At Spittal Pond Natural Reserve, vacationers can take in some of Bermudas most breathtaking species of birds. It also includes 60 acres of natural trails which can be a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.
One interesting aspect of the Pond is Jeffory's hole, a hole where, in the days of slavery, a slave named Jeffory hid for a week after escaping from his master. The Pompano Beach Club in Southampton is a 4 star, secluded oceanfront resort set on 14 hillside acres, overlooking the southwest shore and perfect for honeymooners. The Royal Palms hotel can also provide visitors with a wonderfully welcoming experience for a less expensive price tag. Peaceful and snug, the hotel is housed in a converted Bermudian-style Mansion, dating from 1903. For college spring breakers, Elbow beach is the perfect destination spot to get away from the hassles of school. However, if you aren’t a college student, beware of this beach around the Easter season. One intriguing destination in Bermuda, which might capture your imagination, is the Bermuda Triangle. More than 100 planes and ships have mysteriously disappeared while traveling through this infamous area. A visit to this very spot can allow travelers to find out if they will be next to vanish. Bermuda is a great, close-by place to go whenever the stresses of everyday city life are getting you down.
